CSU-TAPS at Colorado State University
CSU-TAPS’ sprinkler corn farm management competition sits higher and drier than many TAPS competitions (elevation 5110 ft.) and offers full irrigation and limited irrigation competition tracks. The limited irrigation track simulates a water leasing scenario relevant to local- and state-level water issues and policy pathways. The program provides a wide range of remote sensing and direct observation data to support competitors in making informed nitrogen and irrigation decisions. CSU-TAPS rotates between three competition fields, carefully mapping and managing residual soil nitrogen, to ensure a level playing field for participants and to highlight practical agronomic and economic aspects of effective nitrogen management.
